Over the years, SOCOMEP has experienced significant growth, expanding its range of services within the industrial tuna industry. As a result, we are proud to offer a variety of career opportunities for both fully employed and casual staff. From tuna discharge monitoring and cargo surveying to export documentation and laboratory testing, SOCOMEP provides diverse roles that contribute to the smooth operation of the industry.

Full-Time Employment
SOCOMEP currently employs over 30 permanent staff members across a range of operational and support functions. In addition to our support departments, including Accounts, Human Resources, and Administration, we offer career opportunities in several key operational areas such as laboratory testing and quality management, export documentation, operations management, and customer service. Our operations team includes roles such as Customer Manager, Operations Supervisor, Operations Controller, Tally Clerk, and Sizing Personnel, all of which play an essential part in supporting the smooth functioning of the industrial tuna industry.
Casual Employment
SOCOMEP regularly employs a pool of casual staff to support operational activities, particularly in the roles of tally and stuffing clerks, depending on the arrival schedule of industrial purse seiners discharging at Port Victoria. To maintain the high standards and quality of our services, SOCOMEP provides compulsory in-house and on-site training for all casual staff members. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, possess basic literacy and numeracy skills, and provide at least one reference from previous work experience.
Holiday Jobs
SOCOMEP offers holiday job opportunities for post-secondary students and recent school leavers seeking valuable work experience within the industrial fishing sector. Interested candidates may apply for positions across various departments depending on operational needs and availability. Due to port regulations and operational requirements, applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
